For Shyam Hettiarachchi, the designer of Pure Passion jewelry, ornamentation is seen as artistic combinations of colours and textures. Familiar with Sri Lankan precious stones since a very young age, she has chosen to display her creativity through an exotic range of jewelry.

Having a firm foundation in the traditions of Sri Lanka as well as having travelled widely, she is able to fuse a range of cultural and aesthetic influences from different parts of the world. It is this quality that makes her creations perfect for the woman whose imagination goes beyond borders.

Shyam believes that truly dramatic and original creations should not be mass produced and therefore Pure Passion produces a very limited number of each design. In fact, the signature pieces are exclusively one of a kind.

Pure Passion jewelry features startling combinations of gem stones such as amethysts, citrines, lemon quartz, garnets, spinels and semi precious stones such as turquoise, agate, onyx, topaz and quartz. Shyam works with uncut and tumbled stones, faceted and cabochon cut stones to merge textures, lighting and colour to achieve those special effects which are the signature of Pure Passion.

Bringing fusion to an even higher plateau, Pure Passion combines both oxidised and high polished Sterling Silver with brass that is burnt and buffed and even lacquered to achieve a variety of hues. A range of wooden beads culled from various parts of the world also add their particular character to the pieces. Merely from the wide range of materials used, it is evident that Shyam is unafraid to experiment and break away from the norms to pioneer her own creations.
